Dooram — Privacy Policy

Dooram ("the app", "we", "us") is a watch-party application operated by RD Group. It lets you watch video content in sync with friends and talk to them over voice and video chat. This policy explains what data the app collects, why, and your choices.

1. Information we collect

• Account information — your email address, a password (stored only as a one-way hash, never in plain text), and the display name / handle you choose.
• Google sign-in (optional) — if you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and name from Google to create your account. We do not receive your Google password.
• Watch-party content — chat messages, reactions, and party metadata (room codes, participant lists, playback position) you generate while in a party.
• Voice and video — when you join a party call, your microphone and camera streams are transmitted in real time to the other participants. These streams are not recorded or stored by us.
• Push notification token — a Firebase Cloud Messaging token used to deliver party invites and reminders to your device.
• Diagnostic data — crash reports and error logs (via Sentry) to keep the app stable.

2. Streaming-service sign-ins stay on your device

To watch content from third-party streaming services, you sign in to those services inside an in-app browser window using your own account. Any login cookies or session tokens for those services are stored only on your device, in the app's local browser storage. They are never transmitted to, or stored on, Dooram's servers. Dooram is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any streaming service.

3. How we use your information

• To create and secure your account and sign you in.
• To run watch parties — syncing playback and routing chat, voice, and video between participants.
• To send you party invites, reminders, and related notifications.
• To diagnose crashes and improve reliability.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

4. Data sharing

We share data only with infrastructure providers that operate the service on our behalf:

• MongoDB Atlas — database hosting for your account and party data.
• LiveKit — real-time voice/video transport.
• Google Firebase — push notifications and (if used) Google sign-in.
• Sentry — crash and error reporting.

We may disclose information if required by law.

5. Data retention

Account data is kept while your account is active. Chat and party data are retained to provide history features. Voice and video streams are transient and never stored. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Contact).

6. Security

Passwords are stored as salted one-way hashes. Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS / WSS). No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.

7. Children

Dooram is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Your rights

You may access, correct, or delete your personal data, and withdraw consent for optional processing, by contacting us at the address below.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
